Four Victims Wounded at Howe Community Park Sacramento — Large Unauthorized Party Results in Shooting
On April 18 2026, an unauthorized gathering of hundreds of people at Howe Community Park in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade area erupted in gunfire when 20 to 25 rounds were fired as deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office were attempting to clearing the crowd.
The Incident
At approximately 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office received calls concerning individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons at Howe Park. A second caller indicated a potential fight and individuals fleeing the scene.
Aerial units was deployed and conducted an aerial search but could not find an active fight.
At the same time, multiple hundreds of people had gathered at the park for what officials called an unsanctioned event. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies positioned themselves around the park, activated emergency lights, and used roughly 15 minutes announcing over loudspeakers for people to leave over their vehicle speakers.
As law enforcement was clearing the area, upwards of 20 gunshots were fired — sending the crowd scattering in all directions at once.
Those Injured
Four shooting victims — one female and three males, each in their 20s — were rushed to local hospitals. Two were website treated for immediate injuries, one was classified with moderate injuries, and one suffered injuries classified as minor. Each of the four victims was in stable condition. Sacramento Metro Fire provided medical assistance in the field.
What Was Found at the Scene
Gunfire originated from the Cottage Way side side of the park in the vicinity of the nearby Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. The Home Depot was put under a brief lockdown. Extra shell casings were located on Cottage Way, with projectile damage found in the wrought iron fencing around the Home Depot store — suggesting rounds fired in a website southerly direction from Cottage click here Way toward the Home Depot parking lot. CSI units and detectives combed the scene for evidence well into the evening.
The Suspect Vehicle
Through scanner communications, it was read more indicated that a related suspect vehicle — described as a Kia vehicle — was detained in Solano County with four detainees. Sacramento County Sheriff's units were dispatched to retrieve the detainees and return them to Sacramento County for questioning. Footage confirmed two separate shooters.
